Nan Lakou

About

About

” Nan Lakou” comes from Haitian Creole, meaning ”in the yard ” or ” in the courtyard ”. In Haitian culture, the lakou is more than a space, it’s where family gathers, stories are shared, and community is built. This blog carries the same spirit: A place of connection, reflection and growth. It is a safe space for individuals to engage in conversations about childhood traumas. Our platform aims to create awareness, promote healing, and nurture healthy relationships. We believe in the power of sharing experiences and offer a supportive community for your journey. Join us in breaking the silence and embracing healing.

Our mission

Our mission is to promote awareness, foster healthy relationships, and aid the journey towards emotional well-being. Moreover, create a space for individuals to feel seen and supported in their healing journey.

WELCOME TO NAN LAKOU!!!

Hi,

My name is Isis. I’m a communications professional with a background in Organizational Communications Studies.

My passion for this work comes from my own story. My parents divorced when I was six. This event shaped the way I viewed family. It also affected my sense of connection and emotional well-being. Over time, I realized how deeply childhood experiences impact who we become as adults.

That’s why I created Nan Lakou. It is a safe space inspired by the Haitian concept of the lakou. In this space, community gathers, stories are shared, and healing begins. Through this blog, I aim to raise awareness about childhood trauma. I also strive to promote self-acceptance. My goal is to support the journey of healing for individuals and families.

Welcome to my little corner of the world, welcome to Nan Lakou.
